Ravensara

As well as training to be a yoga teacher I also work as a holistic massage therapist and am always on the look out for special oils and aromatherapy recipes to use on my clients. I recently came across an oil that I hadn't heard of before when I was browsing through the essential oil collection at Neal's Yard Remedies, and I have to say it was love at first sniff. The oil is the elusive Ravensara from Madagascar with a similar fragrance to Eucalyptus and the spiritual depth of Frankincense. As someone who has suffered from chronic bronchitis for the last few years it's no surprise that I was drawn to this oil as it is well known for it's antiseptic, antiviral and expectorant properties. This oil is also fantastic for treating depression as it stimulates the senses and brings in positive thoughts and feelings of hope. For people suffering from insomnia this is a great oil to turn to for help due to its relaxing and soothing properties.

I'm excited to introduce my clients to this supportive and nourishing oil. How will I use it? By adding it to massage oil blends (it blends well with Bergamot, Geranium, Frankincense, Lavender and Marjoram) and adding a few drops to a bowl of hot water placed underneath the the massage table so they can take deep breaths and inhale the positivity and hope of Ravensara.
